Meet The Team
Dr. Kim Morrison
CEO/Founder
Dr. Kim Morrison is Senior Project Director at The Innovation Project and former Superintendent of Mount Airy City Schools, capping a 31-year career in education—eight of those years as superintendent.
An advocate for innovative learning, she has led Magnet Schools of America as president and chaired The Innovation Project, a North Carolina superintendent-run nonprofit. Morrison has received North Carolina's Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the Governor's office. She secured more than $50 million in grants, helping schools earn national honors such as the Ronald P. Simpson, Schools to Watch, and District of Distinction awards. Her own recognitions include PTEC Superintendent of the Year (2022), finalist for AASA’s Women in School Leadership Award (2012), and Appalachian State University’s Rhododendron Award (2016).
She and her husband, Tommy, are the proud parents of their sons Kaleb and Eli.

Dr. Barbara Zwadyk
Leadership Consultant
Dr. Barbara Zwadyk is a Greensboro native with a BA in French/English from Greensboro College and three graduate degrees—including a doctorate in Educational Leadership—from UNC-Greensboro.
Across more than 30 years in public education, she has taught every K-12 grade, led middle, high, and middle-college campuses, and held district positions such as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction (Winston-Salem/Forsyth), Chief of Curriculum & Organizational Development (Guilford County), and Interim Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services (Chatham County). Renowned for raising achievement through innovative literacy and language programs, she has also directed statewide leadership initiatives for NC New Schools | Breakthrough Learning and launched the High Point University Leadership Academy, mentoring dozens of future principals.
Today she continues to shape educators as an adjunct professor at HPU while serving districts as a leadership coach and organizational-development consultant—pairing deep classroom expertise with a system-level vision for equitable, high-impact learning.

Murphy McConnell
Executive Assistant
Originally from the Pittsburgh area, Murphy discovered her love for North Carolina while attending Appalachian State University and decided to make it her permanent home. Now settled in Charlotte with her cats, Smudge and Freddy, she embraces southern living while maintaining her northern roots.

As an executive assistant at K and E Innovative Leadership, LLC, Murphy applies her organizational talents, creative solutions, and attention to detail to support the company's mission. Her background includes valuable experience as a Grant Administrator for The Innovation Project's TSL Grant, where she developed strong virtual collaboration skills that continue to serve her well in her professional journey.

When not coordinating professional matters, Murphy enjoys exploring Charlotte's growing culinary scene, cozying up with a good book, and hanging out with friends. She continues to develop her expertise in project management and digital organization systems, always seeking new ways to enhance operational efficiency and team effectiveness.
